Since its inauguration in October 2018, the Movistar Arena has become an emblem of entertainment in Colombia and Latin America. This multipurpose venue, located in Bogotá, has established itself as a space for concerts, a driver of the economy and an engine of employment in the city. In its six years of operation, it has hosted more than 3.5 million attendees and has had the participation of 380 national and 285 international artists, reaffirming its commitment to offering unforgettable experiences.
A global recognition
The Movistar Arena has captured the attention of the global entertainment industry. During the last two years, this arena has been recognized as one of the outstanding venues worldwide, appearing on the lists of Pollstar magazine, one of the most important publications in the sector. In the most recent list, published in November, the Movistar Arena ranked first for events of between 10,000 and 15,000 people. The figures speak for themselves: more than 750,000 tickets sold in a single year.
This massive influx of people represents a positive impact on Bogotá’s economy. The events held at the Movistar Arena have generated an economic impact of more than $500,000 million pesos, benefiting sectors such as hotels, restaurants, transportation, and employment in general.
Boost to the economy and employment in Bogotá
The impact of Movistar Arena on employment is also notable. According to data from Raddar, the entertainment sector generated 8.41% of jobs in Bogotá during the first quarter of the year, positioning itself as the fourth most important sector in terms of job creation. In this context, the Movistar Arena has been responsible for the creation of more than 88,000 work shifts each year, both formal and informal, including temporary and part-time jobs. These jobs have especially favored young people: 53% of the shifts correspond to people between 20 and 30 years old, many of whom are in the process of professional training.
A space that celebrates diversity and culture
Throughout its six years, the Movistar Arena has proven to be much more than a concert space. It has hosted various artists and cultural events, from great international stars to outstanding national talents, reflecting the cultural richness of Colombia and its openness to the world. A meeting point for all people and a space where diversity is celebrated and cultural interaction is encouraged.
“It is a place of the people and for the people. Every day we work to nourish the city’s culture and enhance entertainment, strengthening the trust of the brands and allies that support us and help us improve experiences for all our points of contact,” concluded Luigi Quintero, general manager of Movistar.
